Video of the day: Allah Allah kar bhaiya, say no to remakes

Mohammed Ali Shyhaki revamps classic song, fails to make an impact.

Express October 10, 2011

Mohammed Ali Shyhaki and Allan Faqir singing Allah Allah Kar Bhaiya? Classic moment. Trying to revamp that moment? Major fail.

The song that shot Shyhaki and Faqir to fame has been through the makeover machine, and it helps us prove the theory that you can never remake or better a legendary track.

This is yet another attempt by the singer to redo the track he had recorded with the folk musician, previously he had done a different version with Faheem Allan Faqir.

Shyhaki teamed up with Indian singer Rasika Shekar for the new version. The video has been shot across different locations in New York and has shots of the singer trying to bust a few moves around the city. The sound is flat and electronic, it makes one not want to go back and listen to the original at all.

The Faheem Allan Faqir, an acoustic version, sounded much better than this one.

Video rating: Thumbs down.

I read the article and was not so pleased with Shahreyar's thought. First of all there should be no comparison with the original track. Original was and is good to the people from those days. the new generation needs the new sound. I am 19 yr old and I loved the new version. I downloaded the audio and i listen to it in my car. It sounds awsome.

thanks Amir
