LAHORE:

Film actress Meera’s brother and mother have been accused of abducting a relative to pressure him to back out of various criminal and civil cases involving property.

Ahsan Abbas and Shafaqat Zehra have been named as accused in a first information report registered at Defence B police station on the complaint of Imran Shah under Section 365 A of the Pakistan Penal Code, or kidnapping with the intent of extorting property.

Abbas is Shah’s uncle, having been married to his mother’s sister. They are also distant cousins.

Police officials told The Express Tribune that Shah, a resident of Sunny Homes, Walton, said in his complaint that Zehra had called him to W Block in Defence on September 20.

He said he sat in her car, but unbeknownst to him Abbas was hiding behind the passenger seat. He said that Abbas later put a gun to his head and he was driven to house number 97 in U Block, Phase II.

He said he was tied up, beaten up and tortured all night and told to withdraw his complaint in several criminal and civil cases. He said he was let go in the morning.

He then proceeded to file another criminal complaint against Abbas and Zehra.

If Meera ever made a film on her life, I'll be the first one to buy a ticket.
