KABUL: Amid escalating tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan on Tuesday refuted allegations made by a top Afghan intelligence official that Pakistan has refused to cooperate with a probe into the assassination of top Afghan peacemaker Burhanuddin Rabbani.
Mohammad Sadiq said a letter he wrote to investigators promised to help. Sadiq told Reuters that he had neither refused to help nor complained about media leaks.
“There is a clear misunderstanding, we sent a letter to the commission set up to investigate Professor Rabbani’s killing and reaffirmed our cooperation. We never said that we are not cooperating,” he said in a telephone interview.
Furthermore, Pakistan’s foreign ministry also rejected the Afghan allegations. “We completely reject, this is not true,” spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua told AFP. “Pakistan stands by its commitment to help Afghanistan in investigating Rabbani’s killings,” she said.
Janjua said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had himself offered cooperation in the investigation, when he visited Kabul to offer his condolences over Rabbani’s assassination.
Zia, deputy head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), told a news conference in Kabul that Pakistan’s embassy had contacted the intelligence agency to complain after details of the investigation appeared in the media. “We are not able to cooperate because Professor Rabbani’s assassination case has been leaked to the media,” Zia quoted the letter from the Pakistan embassy as saying.
Despite having been given evidence, including pictures of the perpetrators, the Pakistan embassy made excuses and refused to help, Zia said. He also added that Afghan investigators wanted to meet the head of ISI Lt Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha, “but they didn’t show any interest.”

and by the way who says OBL was shot dead in Abbotabad, he was murdered long ago...if he was murdered in Abottabad, then why his video footage was not shown on media, lets suppose it was, then why US didn't take his body to show it to its nation taking to ground zero,WTC on the pretext of which the whole Afghanistan has been put into ashes.

Please note, the suicide bomber was a State Guest and staying in State Guest House for four days before he committed the act. All his movements were coordinated by the Mr Mohammad Masoom , the Adviser to the President of Afghanistan. Let there be an international inquiry comprising non alligned countries and the fact will be revealed.

If Afghanistan wants Pakistan will form a Commission of Inquiry......that will surely solve the problem.
If we look at the timing of this claim by the Afghan government, it will be easy to anlayse the hidden motives behind the statements. The Afghan government and administration, which was built from scratch by the US administration for almost seven years, has shown complete impotence in dischrging the most essential functions. They only resort to tactics of pressurizing Pakistan by levelling allegations which at best are hearsay. The Taliban have already accepted that they eliminated Rabbani. So there is nothing new in the claim. The Afghans have allowed several Indian consulates and clandestine missions close to Pakistani border locations. The troubles in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have a link with escalated Indian suppported activities in the region. And now Mr Karzai has already spilled the beans. He accepts India as a strategic partner. Against whom? We do not need to go too far to learn that clue.
Pakistan's founding fathers must have sacrificed a lot to carve out a nation. But the out-of-control and out-of-touch "agencies" of Pakistan are ensuring that those sacrifices are in vain. Apart from embarrassing the nation at every turn, the "cleverness" of the agencies has not scored a single success. At the very least, the agencies will want to recruit people with an IQ above the 'retarded' zone.

Instead of blaming others, tell me, how many commitments have we ever fulfilled? In 60s balochistan? In 70s bangaldesh, In 80s Afghanistan, in 90s with Iran, in 00s with US and India.. our history is full of commitments which were lies. Forget rabbani or others, we cannot even be committed to protect people here, or punish the guilty. No one in the world, even China doesnt believe in our "commitments".
This is an easy job, just show up and deny everything. Then go home and sleep.
