SUKKUR:

Hundreds of people, including political activists and lady health workers, staged a protest demonstration and sit-in, in Thul, against the Jacobabad police for not finding Fazila Sarki — who was kidnapped more than four-and-a-half years ago from Garhi Hassan Sarki village.

Amar Bhatti of the Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party, Ghazi Buledi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Waseem Qureshi of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Muneer Sarki of the Sindh United Party took part.

Bushra Arain, the chairperson of the Lady Health Workers Association, was also present with Fazila’s parents, Abdul Razzak Sarki and Sakina Khatoon. The protestors gathered at Rehbar Chowk and shouted slogans against the Jacobabad police while carrying placards and banners. Later, they also burnt tyres and blocked the road for two hours.

Political leaders said that it is regrettable that Fazila was not recovered despite suo motu notice of the Supreme Court. Sakina Khatoon said that she went from pillar to post to appeal for her daughter but nothing has been done yet.

She accused Jacobabad SSP Perwez Chandio for not showing any interest in the case despite repeated instructions from the apex court. One of the protestors, Sharbat Buriro, attempted self immolation, but was saved by the others.
