KARACHI: The children in Badin and Khairpur are in desperate need of nutritious food to help them survive this second disaster, said Alexander Davey, the national director of World Vision Pakistan. He said that malnutrition has reached emergency levels after the recent bout of flooding. Malnutrition is closely linked with hygienic practices of the people and efforts are also being made to educate them about safe hygiene and sanitation. He said, “About 49% of more than 5.4 million flood victims are women and the focus of our response currently is on health, nutrition and distribution of commodities to pregnant women, children and old people.”
