Chakra Goth attack: Madhuri’s custody extended till Sept 27

The case was registered against him under section 13-E of the Arms Ordinance which deals with the discovery of an unlicenced weapon based on information provided by the suspect.

Madhuri was brought to the Sindh High Court surrounded by tight security because of his involvement in several high-profile cases of terrorism.

The investigating officer for his case requested physical custody.

He told Justice Maqbool Baqar, who is the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts, that they seized a Kalashnikov rifle and a 7mm gun after Madhuri told them where they were located. The police said they wanted more time to question him as they were expecting to find other weapons and unmask those who provided or sold them to Madhuri.

After hearing Special Public Prosecutor Arshad Iqbal Cheema, the judge granted the request and remanded Madhuri to custody of the CID till September 27.

Three policemen were killed and at least 28 others, including DSP Syed Badar Ali Shah, were injured in the attack that took place on August 19. Madhuri and another man were also injured, allegedly in the exchange of fire. They reached Jinnah hospital where they were arrested once the police suspected their involvement in the attack.
