LAHORE: The National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case inquiry officer Zafar Qureshi has submitted his report to the Supreme Court in which he alleged that the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency and Interior Secretary did not provide assistance to him despite the court orders.

According to the details of the report, Zaffar Qureshi had also alleged that the prosecutor for the accused was not appointed in the case, the negligence proving helpful for the accused in the case.

The officer further claimed that the wife of Moonis Elahi had transferred Rs90 million rupees to an account through money laundering.

The Supreme Court has now issued notices to the DG FIA  and the Interior Secretary for not cooperating in the investigation.

Zaffar Qureshi has also written a letter to the Chief Justice in which he has stated that he has life threats from some of the influential persons. He requested the court to issue orders for the authorities to provide him security.

Its extremely shameful to see that the Supreme Court is being approached for such issues of non-compliance and lack of interest of the Interior Secretary and DG FIA. The Interior Minister is supposed to handle such matters and report to the Prime Minister in case of such issues. Chief Justice is virtually the de-facto Prime Minister taking notices of law and order and other issues. The DG FIA should not only be sacked but suspended from his respective service and prosecuted as impeding the process of investigation is a federal crime in itself. Precedents need to be set for bureaucrats to wake up and look beyond their government Prados and escorts.

Zafar qureshi I salute u for doing your job honestly inspite of all the challenges and personal threats. If moonis is innocent the chaudrys n the govt should let the investigation take its course and not be a hinderance. The dirty ways employed only strengthens the public perception against moonis. But why should the chaudries care as these things don’t have any effect on the rigged elections
