Jihad Inc (II)

KARACHI: This is with reference to Ali K Chisti’s ‘Jihad Inc’ (July 2). Madrassas have churned out intolerant, misogynistic, and bigoted men for decades. Their bigotry and intolerance was always present in our society. But as long as they were doing their killings beyond our borders, our society wasn’t bothered. Even now, as they point their guns at us, a vast segment of our population deludes itself into thinking that these suicide bombers descend directly at the bomb sites from somewhere. Confronting the reality of the process which creates this intolerant and bigoted brigade remains illusive.
