Two brothers were killed and their father was injured after a rival group opened fire at them on Monday.
The police quoted Ayub Khan, a resident of Gehariyan Village, as saying that his son, Riasat Khan, married Munawar’s daughter a few years back.
However, she left their house and moved back in with her parents. After a while, Riasat also moved in with his in-laws. On Monday, Munawar and his son Tasawwar barged into Ayub’s house and tried to take back his daughter’s dowry. When Ayub tried to resist them, he was beaten up and injured by the father and the son.
When Riasat and his brother, Nawaz, came to their father’s rescue, the attackers allegedly opened fire at them, seriously injuring both of them. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Haripur, where Riasat and Nawaz were later pronounced dead. One of the suspects has been arrested by the police.
