Former US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte claimed that CIA does not have any idea on the whereabouts of al Qaeda chief, Osama bin Laden.

He spoke in the first joint programme of Express 24/7 and Voice of America, 'The Platform'.

CIA Chief Leon Panetta recently told the ABC News channel that Osama was hiding in the tribal areas of Pakistan although there had been no good information since 2000.

John Negroponte was asked that why any actionable leads regarding Osama bin Laden had not been shared with Pakistan by the US. He said that the US would have taken action by now if it had any real information on the location of Osama bin Laden.

He also said that despite previous negligence, the US has reaffirmed its alliance with Pakistan since 9/11. The Pak-US partnership is broadening from military cooperation and the Bush administration had planned to put $750 million for the development of the Fata region.

He also admitted that the US needs to do more with the government and people of Pakistan.
