Youth Parliament: Seraiki province map finalised

Published: August 13, 2011

The map of the new province includes about 20 districts of Southern Punjab and some from K-P.

MULTAN:

The Seraikistan youth parliament has finalised the map of the new province in Multan. The map was pasted on a billboard put up in front of the Prime Minister Camp in Multan on Friday.

Local movements nominated Abdul Qadir Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, as chief minister of the new province. Abdul Qadir is currently a member of the Punjab provincial assembly from Rahim Yar Khan.

While there is no indication of the Prime Minister Camp or Abdul Qadir Gilani approving of such announcements inscribed on the banners and placards, they have not countered the move.

The map of the new province includes about 20 districts of Southern Punjab and some from K-P. More than 13% of the country’s population speaks Seraiki. Bahawalpur has been included in the map for the new Seraiki province, along with Tank and Dera Ismail Khan from K-P.

The districts of Sindh and Balochistan, where Seraiki is spoken, are not included in the map.

    one single province should not be deliberately targetted.make new provinces out of all the 4 provinces,don’t launch a witch hunt against only one province.right now it seems everyone is ganging up against punjab.

    I am a sarayki speaking youth, living in Saudi Arabia. “My mother toungue is Sarayki” I do not believe in any new provinces based on linguistics. Rahter there should be demarkation based on administrative units. Which will be more strenghtening rather then weakening.

    I am a Muslim, a Pakistani foremost then I carry any other identification.

    Why not included the Sindh’s belt where Seraiki is spoken?Why divide only KP and Punjab, this is a mockery of ground reality, Seraiki belt extends well into Sindh, carve that out of Sindh

    well things will be harmonious if only punjabi decide what they should do regarding partitioning/reorganization of their state. speaking of other provinces and involving other community people will just leads to separatist feeling among all not few… in India if we talk about reorganizing the states then only the people of that states, representative of that state and those who get directly affected are taken into account and no one else. moreover if pakistan is planning massive reorganization of their states then they should form a separate committee to look after this issue and also this thing should be done step wise so that the mistakes done in creating one province/ state is not repeated in other.

    well i think only people of punjab should be looking into division of punjab and others shouldnt interfere into it also punjabis should not talk about the division of other states cuz it may cause communal prejudice and hatred among your countrymen. moreover if pakistan is going to reorganize its states on such a massive level then better form a committee to look after the division and also this should be done in step wise manner so that mistake made in one division is not repeated in other.
    im telling you from India’s experience….

    @indi
    your proposals r absolutely right. People of Punjab and others those involved should be asked. Reformation should be step by step.
    Formation of new provinces is need of the hour. we pakistanis should look forward to it.
