PESHAWAR:

Four books authored by a former blue-eyed mujahideen leader of the West and now a ‘specially designated global terrorist’ were launched at a hotel here on Thursday.

The launch ceremony of books penned by former Afghan prime minister and chief of Hizb-e-Islami (HI) Gulbuddin Hekmatyar was attended by a number of HI activists including former deputy prime minister to Hekmatyar Engineer Qutbuddin Hilal, HI Pakistan chief Dr Hakim and former provincial minister Inayatullah.

Hekmatyar is writing against a superpower at a time when the superpower is hunting him down, said Hilal at the ceremony.

“At times while writing, Hekmatyar could hear the conversations and footsteps of American soldiers, but he continued,” Hilal said.

“We do have complaints against the West for conspiring against the Muslims but we ourselves have forgotten our objective and destination,” said Dr Abdul Samad, a heart specialist, while addressing the gathering.

Hekmatyar has authored 79 books on linguistics, Pashto grammar and comparative religion.
