ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has decided in principle to allow the import of certain items from India, however, the final decision will be taken by the federal cabinet, after approval of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

According to a document available with The Express Tribune, these items include laboratory testing equipment, air-brake equipment, spares for railway locomotives, all kinds of laboratory glassware, cotton waste, equipment for taping various kinds of thread and machinery for rice bran oil refining.

According to the document, proposals to allow the import of certain items suggested by various industrialists and trade organisations were also under consideration.

Sources confirmed that the list of importable goods from India will be expanded as these items are not produced locally.

Concur with the Sanjay. There has been a lot of common interest hoped to be explored particulalry trade of goods & services. All produces, are inter-change-use among the people of two countries. Expect Pakistan to benifit more; having access to land-locked westerns neighbours, allowing Indian goods and services to transit through its teritory to the end user followed by free access to Indian consumer market which remain major focus for ages now by the continent accross Asia's east to west.

similarly, India should import those goods and services which are found competitively from Pakistan, rather than importing from other countries..Cement, Cotton, Electrical power , tryes etc can be imported to make our goods and services cheaper. Todays world is inter-dependent. all countries will have to decide ts interest , rather than holding old, rigid stands at cost of its people.
