‘Policy for investors to yield returns’

Express June 16, 2010

ISLAMABAD: Investment policy parameters in Pakistan allow foreign investors 100 per cent foreign equity in major sectors and full return on profits according to Minister of State and Board of Investment Chairman Saleem H Mandviwalla.

The chairman met with Deputy High Commissioner for the United Kingdom Robert Gibson and discussed Special Economic Zones being established in collaboration with private parties where the government has allowed a ten year tax exemption.

He added that in the backdrop of international competition, countries all over the world have created efficient and competitive industrial clusters and SEZs to reduce the cost of doing business.  Speaking about infrastructure projects under SEZs Gibson suggested facilitating companies interested in investing in remote areas of Sindh.

Gibson further suggested Madviwala visit London and Manchester to meet with the large number of Pakistani and British investors who are interested in investing in Pakistan.
