LANDI KOTAL:

Unknown militants destroyed three more government schools in Bara sub-division of Khyber Agency on Tuesday, bringing the total number of destroyed schools in Khyber Agency to 46.

The primary schools in Yara Jan, Ghulam Sher and Zar Mar Jan villages were blown up by militants using explosive material.

These schools are located in the Akakhel tribal area, where security forces have launched a military offensive for two years now, while curfew has consistently been imposed in Bara, which has its borders in the east and north of Peshawar.

The militants usually blow up these schools at late night by placing strong explosives inside the schools’ compounds.

The schools which have been destroyed are mostly girls’ schools, and are located in Bara and Landi Kotal, due to which education in the region has been completely suspended

Thousands of young students belonging to the area have been deprived of their basic right of education. Due to closure of government schools, girls can be seen sitting on debris, reading their books in extremely hot weather.

The teachers in Landi Kotal are also avoiding the schools due to the ongoing situation, whereas all educational institutions in Bara have been closed till further orders.
