Notification issued for increase in salaries of Punjab doctors

No notification for the increase in salary of medical officers, senior registrars and teaching staff issued as yet.

LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a notification for the promised increased in salaries of doctors working in public sector.

The notification states that the salary increase has come into effect from July 1.

The new salary package for House officer doctors will now be Rs24,000. While for post graduate trainee doctors' will be Rs42,500.

However, a notification for the increase in salary of the medical officers, senior registrars and teaching staff has not been issued as yet.

Medical staff in Punjab had gone on an extensive campaign which ended up in strikes by doctors in public sector hospitals. The agitation, mainly led by the Young Doctors Association, culminated in talks between the government and the doctors where the provincial government agreed to raise salaries of public sector doctors.
