SUKKUR:

Three people, including a minor boy, were killed in an encounter with the police in the village of Ali Sher Janwri near Sukkur on Monday. Heavy contingents of police raided the village and arrested the criminals involved in Janwri-Shaikh bloody clashes.

The police claimed that the villagers opened fire when they saw the policemen. The exchange of fire went on for half an hour and three villagers, including Abdul Samee Janwri, Haider Ali Janwri and 12-year-old Fayaz Janwri, were shot dead. Kandhra police station’s ASI, Ali Gul, said a few culprits managed to escape the crime scene.

The villagers, including Shoukat Janwri and Sadoro Janwri, claim that the police raided and ransacked their village without any justification and killed innocent residents, including a boy.

The villagers allege that the police are siding with the Shaikh clansmen. They complained that the police repeatedly raids their village, arrests innocent youth and hence turns them into criminals. The Sukkur DPO was not available for comment.
