Let’s not forget Kashmir

Letter July 10, 2011
Pakistan has lots of problems on its plate but that shouldn’t mean turning our backs on Kashmir and its people.

KARACHI: This is with reference to Yaqoob Khan Bangash’s article of July 4 titled “Time to forget Kashmir”.

Every nation in history has its fair share of good and bad times. Unfortunately, Pakistan has recently been experiencing considerable upheaval in the form of natural disasters and a seemingly unending law and order and terrorism problem. But just because we have our fair share of problems doesn’t mean that we shy away from some important collective commitments. One of these is our commitment to the Kashmir cause. The plight of the Kashmiris will continue to be what it is irrespective of our ability to ignore it.

Agreed that Pakistan has lots of problems on its plate but that shouldn’t mean turning our backs on Kashmir and its people.
