ISLAMABAD: Customs intelligence in two separate operations recovered and seized 8 kg of heroin and 84 kg of opium valued at Rs4.7 million and Rs11.04 million respectively. The officials mounted surveillance near Peshawar in pursuit of information that an attempt would be made to smuggle foreign-origin heroin from the Khyber agency to Punjab and ultimately abroad. The suspected cars were stopped on July 4 and July 6 respectively and detailed search of the cars led to the recovery of heroin and opium concealed in secret cavities specially designed for the purpose.
