KARACHI: At least one man was killed, while nearly a dozen others were injured during a clash between two rival gangs in Lyari and adjacent areas on Tuesday. According to sources, Amin and Sajid group, which is affiliated with Lyari gangster Baba Ladla who was a close aide of the slain gang ringleader Rehman Dakait clashed with another gang, led by Nasir Baloch. The latter gang is a subgroup of the Arshad Pappu and Ghaffar Zikri gang. The Zikri gang was trying to regain their control in Golimar and other parts of Lyari, which resulted in the cross fire, said officials. The gangsters also reportedly hurled hand grenades and fired rockets at each other. DSP Qaiser Ali Shah said law enforcers faced problems in entering the areas because of the narrow lanes that were guarded by armed men who showed intense resistance to them. Residents were confined in their homes and commercial activities were shut down. The affected areas included Old Golimar, Gulbahar, Raxer Line and Gutter Baghicha.
