LAHORE:

The bodies of a mother and daughter stabbed to death a few days ago were discovered in their house in North Cantonment police jurisdiction on Monday.

Police said that Surayya, 60, and her daughter Munazza, 17, were discovered by their neighbours who had been alerted by a putrid smell coming from the house on Street Number 6, Ittehad Colony.

North Cantonment SHO Muhammad Arham said the two women appeared to have been murdered about four days ago. The crime scene indicated that two people broke into the house and committed the killing. Both women had been stabbed multiple times, but Munazza had thrice the number of wounds, indicating that the crime was motivated by revenge against her. He speculated that the killer could have been a young man whose wedding proposal had been rejected. He said the police were looking for Surayya’s brother and husband.

Neighbour Muhammad Asif said that the women had been living in the area for 19 years and kept to themselves. He said Munazza worked at a beauty parlour and Surayya at houses doing small jobs.
