Blair, who was famously reluctant to discuss his faith during his time in office, converted to Catholicism months after leaving 10 Downing Street in 2007, and set up the ‘Tony Blair Faith Foundation’, to promote respect and understanding between the major religions.
In the interview, he said “I read the Bible every day. I read the Quran every day, partly to understand some of the things happening in the world, but mainly just because it is immensely instructive.”
Reading Islam’s holy book ensured he remained ‘faith-literate’ said Blair, adding that he believes being faith-literate is crucial in today’s globalised world.
Blair believes that knowledge of Islam informs his current role as Middle East envoy for the Quartet of the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia.
This isn’t the first time that the former British Premier had spoken so highly of the religion. In 2006 he said the Quran was a ‘reforming book, it is inclusive. It extols science and knowledge and abhors superstition. It is practical and way ahead of its time in attitudes to marriage, women and governance’.
He praised the Muslim faith as being ‘beautiful’ and that the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as being ‘an enormously civilizing force’.
Last October, Blair’s sister-in-law Lauren Booth raised eyebrows after announcing that she had converted to Islam after what she described as a ‘holy experience’ during a visit to a shrine in Iran.

How many times we read Quran in a “WEEK”?
We Should think about it. If non Muslims read Quran sometimes or Daily. We hope for better. A time will come when they will reveal truth about Islam and Quran. Quran wants only peace in the whole world. It's only possible through reading the Quran. And this is Hoping the best for a peaceful and civilized world!

Someone tried to make fun by mentioned Iraq war. Well, yes there was not enough proof of WMD in Iraq but not only iraq was very much planning for it but its track record of HUMAN RIGHTs was self explanatory. CIA was just acting like a selfish lion not removing him earlier. But then again which world secret agency is doing a fair work. Much of the bloodshed mentioned in ARAB and muslim propaganda DOES NOT mention that this killing is due to TERRORISTs killing ordinary iraqiz in attacks and NOT USA forces. Yes USA hasnt its hands completely clean but then thats what you call COLLATERAL damage.
Whether Tony Blair or any other non-Muslim read the Holy Qur'an it is a positive and good news, this because by reading the Qur'an they may understand what are Allah's commands and how Muslims should live their life, and how the Qur'an honours the previous Holy books, Prophets and Messengers and how Jesus and his Mother (peace and Blessing of Allah be with them all) are honoured in the Qur'an and in the hearts of Muslims. We Muslims should encourage non-Muslims to read the Qur'an and let them chose if they wish to believe or not. Salam.

@Denis MacEoin: I am also a recent Muslim from RC. I understood Islam from Quran. One needs reading the book regularly because it requires following. I find it very simple.
Yvon Ridley and Ms.Booth had no difficulty. It may be difficult for Muslims ut not for non Muslims.
The main thing is the purpose of reading.
Only to read the Holy Quran is not to understand the real sperit of islam.The main thing is the purpose of reading it.If someone reades the Holy Quran or any other religious book to find what is the force behind that activities of any particular relegion followers which are going against him or his faith or country,and uses it for his/her personal or group aims. Then it will not benifit him.
