Pakistan, India meet over Indus water

India has violated the Indus Water Treaty by reducing the flow of water down the western rivers.

NEW DEHLI: Members of the Pakistan-India Indus Water Commission met in New Delhi to discuss issues relating to Indus water.

Pakistan warned India it will move the World Bank over the Kishenganga power project on the Indus River in Indian Kashmir, as it violates the Indus Water Treaty.

The 1960 Indus Water Treaty is a water-sharing treaty between India and Pakistan, brokered by the World Bank.

Under the accord, India can use water from the eastern rivers Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi, while Pakistan can use water from the western rivers Indus, Chenab and Jhelum.
