Film Icon: Rani exhibition opens on 27th

Exhibition of 20 art works inspired by Rani.

An exhibition of 20 art works inspired by Rani, the late film actor, will go on display at the Alhamra Art Gallery on The Mall from May 27 to June 4.


The Lahore Arts Council is organising the exhibit, titled Icon, in collaboration with Rohtas 2 Gallery as a tribute to the legendary screen star on her 18th death anniversary. Actor Shahid will inaugurate the show.

Various artists from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad have contributed their work for display during the exhibition.

All the works are inspired by portraits and images of Rani from her movie career. They include an oil and acrylic on canvas, digital print on paper, a collage, a tapestry weave and a video installation.

Saeed Akhtar, Aasim Akhtar, Mohammad Ahmad, Abdul Jabbar Gul, Muhammad Ashraf, Adeel Ahmed, Mohammad Ali Talpur, Adeeluz Zafar, Rabia Anwar, Ahsan Jamal, Risham Syed, Ali Azmat, Sadaf Naeem, Amber Hammad, Asad Hayee, Saira Dar, Atif Khan, Sheraz Faisal, Hassan Mujtaba, Zeeshan Memon and Madiha Sikander are participating in the exhibition.

Rani is best known for her lead role in the Pakistani version of the film Umrao Jan.
