KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt refused to share his reasons behind the sacking of Shahid Afridi as the team’s One-Day International (ODI) captain, saying that it was the board’s right to change captain and that decision was taken in the best interest of the team.

“Captains are changed all over the world and no cricket board gives a reason for that,” the chairman told The Express Tribune. “We did what we thought was best and don’t need to give a reason for it.”

Ijaz also backed his decision to appoint Test captain Misbahul Haq, 37, as Afridi’s successor, adding that lack of options in the squad forced the move.

“We’re looking at everyone’s performance and discipline and we’re trying to pinpoint a suitable candidate for the captain’s position for the future.”

giving guys like afridi , razaq , malik 10 -15 years stints is the exact reason we never have a good test side … after inzi, yunus, yusuf left …we dont have test team that can score 200 batting 1st or 2nd….butt is doing right … you wanna build a team thas a reflection of our national talent ,we gotta back azhar ali , shafiq , h azam, akmal gul…guys who fit all formats naturally are the only ones that improve after gaining experience not the likes of afridi , razaq , nazir , malik , shazaib…how long will they delay a legend.Recommend
