SARGODHA: A woman in Bhabra village in Kot Momin on Thursday allegedly killed her husband by an axe because she didn’t want him to sell their house. DSP Kot Momin Lal Muhammad said Mukhtar Ahmed wanted to sell the house and move to some other area. On Thursday, he said Ahmed and his wife, Zakia Bibi, had a quarrel over the same issue and Zakia allegedly attacked him with an axe and injured him. He said the man was taken to district headquarters (DHQ) hospital where he died. He said Zakia had escaped before the police arrived. Mela Police station house officer Iftikhar said they had registered an FIR against the woman and making raids for her arrest. Sources in the same police station however said that the woman had been arrested and that the police was waiting for the post mortem report. According to the neighbours, Ahmed had married Zakia seven years ago after buying her from the tribal areas. They said it was a common practice in the area for who could not find a partner in their family to purchase and then marry women belonging to tribal areas.
