SHO dismissed over 2011 Kharotabad incident shot dead in Quetta

Fazlur Rehman Kakar had served during the operation in which five Chechens including 2 women were killed

QUETTA: Former SHO Fazlur Rehman Kakar was gunned down on Quetta’s Masjid Road on Sunday.

According to initial details, unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire on Kakar, resultantly killing the former SHO on the spot. This is the fourth attack on security personnel in the province in the past 10 days.

Kakar was the former SHO for the airport area and was serving during the operation in Kharotabad area in which five Chechens including two women were killed in an encounter.

The incident drew widespread criticism, with calls for thorough inquiry of the killings. An inquiry team had subsequently dismissed SHO Kakar from his post.

Five foreigners including two women were killed on May 17 in 2011 in the Kharotabad area of Balochistan when police and FC personnel opened fire at them.
