Pakistan Army paid tribute to the brave soldiers who laid their lives in war on terrorism.
Pakistan wants peace with all its neighbours with dignity, but national honour and integrity will not be traded just for the sake of prosperity, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said on Saturday at a ceremony held at the GHQ in Rawalpindi to pay tribute to the troops who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Paying tribute to soldiers for rendering selfless sacrifices for the nation, Gen Kayani said that defining national interest was Pakistan’s right. He said the nation and the armed forces were like a single entity. “We believe in the unity of the nation and the army, just like a family.”
Stressing the need for dispelling despondency and pessimism, he said a prosperous Pakistan was in everyone’s interest, but national integrity and honour would not be compromised at any cost.
Appreciating sacrifices rendered by the people of Pakistan in the fight against militancy alongside the Pakistan Army, Gen Kayani said the country was passing through a critical phase and there was a need to forge national unity.
Pakistan, he said, was a peaceful country and it wanted to live in peace with its neighbours. He said the nation had decided to lead a simple life with honour and dignity and the armed forces were with the nation in their resolve.
The Pakistan Army, Gen Kayani said, had rendered great sacrifices for national dignity and integrity, adding that he saluted those who had laid down their lives and those who were still fighting for national cause. He expressed solidarity with the families of martyrs, and said they had fought for a national cause.
“Our jawans are always ready to sacrifice their lives for Pakistan and were ready to defend the motherland against any internal or external enemy,” said Kayani.
“We will not forget the sacrifices rendered by the Shuhuda and we need to strengthen the country for future generations.”

P g3as PF ing. As a counter-move, the PML-N is reportedly building an alliance with religious and nationalist parties and will accept former members who defected to PML-Q.
On the other hand, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar told The Express Tribune, “We are nowhere close to even considering rejoining the government until the issues of economy and law and order are addressed.”
While PPP leaders green-lit the decision to open negotiations with the PML-Q, hoping that a possible deal would smooth the passage and implementation of legislation, the PPP and PML-Q will have to appease their respective vote-banks.
On the other hand, former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters on Saturday that the move was not in the interest of the people of Pakistan. Awan brushed off Qureshi’s disapproval, saying, “He wasn’t even in the meeting when this was brought up, so he is not aware of the facts.”

@ahlane: We all salute the efforts of the Pakistani military. The whole nation appreciates the sacrifices of our proud jawans. They have done us proud. Don’t worry about Waziristan or FATA. The army knows best when and where to do what needs to be done. The army certainly isn’t afraid of your Indian backed criminals and agents who have infiltrated from Afghanistan. They are on the run and can only mount acts of desperations against children’s schools and women.Recommend
My heart goes out for the Jawan’s who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
My salute for Shaheed Jawan’s and all of their family members.
Indeed you are exceptional people and Al-Mighty Allah has sent you in this world to save the lives of innocent people. The sacrifices you made will always be remembered by all patriotic Pakistanis.
In simple words, you people are above all of us who sacrificed your precious lives for the sake of Pakistan.
May Al-Mighty Allah Bless You. Ameen. Recommend

@ahlane Why do you care? Do you live in this country? if you do and dont’t like it don’t bother to comment leave or if you don’t its not your war so why bother to spread hate for yourself here.
I wish ET will moderate hateful and rude comments like ahlane’s when it comes to news clips like these.Recommend
@Fahad Raza: It seems that there are always Indians posting their nasty comments on Pakistani sites. They often concoct phoney names and sometimes use their real names. The IP addresses should tell ET when to block nasty Indian comments. We in Pakistan salute the proud efforts of our military. It is the defeat of the criminals sent by India across Afghanistan that has these cowards so mad that they are now attacking children’s schools and civilians.Recommend
I wonder, we have only heroic respect for army men. There are lot in various fields and some are disowned by us like Dr. Abdul Salam. We should remember them as well. I am not comparing but perhaps they are equally deserve our respect and love.Recommend
This is the Army who dragged this war in all corners of Pakistan and now . . . . I dont have suitable words to express my opinion on it.Recommend

For love of country they surrendered in Dhaka in 1971!
Don’t confuse the sacrifices of the martyrs with the agenda of the greedy generals. They can only conquer their own country and run its economy into a black hole. Recommend
While viewing General Kiani’s shot in a newspaper’s front-page today, I am thinking of those +30,000 innocent civilians who died in this so called ‘war against terrorism’; While thinking of social security/pension provided to the families of (military) Shuhada, I am deeply worried about those thousands of household who lost their earning hands; While admiring the services of arm-forces on the Youm-e-Shuhada, I wonder who would offer salam to our strong Civilians and praise their unnoticeable sacrifices?
Salute to the Pakistani Soldier! Salam to every Pakistani Civilian!Recommend
we are proud to be Pakistani…we salute to defenders of PakistanRecommend
if this army really cared about this country they would have attacked militant in north wazaristan from where suicide bombers are trained. Shame on our army for not fighting raw and cia trained militant in nw.Recommend
Kyani seems to be an ironic person. He is expert in uttering hollow statements without the iota of shamefulness after all that Bin Laden episode under their nose. Surely, in his eyes, the national integrity isn’t damaged by all this Recommend
That’s all I have to say. No disrespect for the Pakistani soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty but sentiments like the one expressed by kayani above makes you angry for how long they’ve held this country back under the pretext of defending our sovereignty or honour.
The vast majority of the Pakistani generalship are not worthy of their command.Recommend
