LAHORE:

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has granted equivalence to ACCA qualification to a Masters level degree.

A circular issued by HEC states that: “(The) HEC recognises the membership of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) after completion of professional qualification and other requisites including training and required professional experience as equivalent to Masters of Commerce degree awarded by Pakistan universities.” Arif Masud Mirza, head of ACCA Pakistan said: “This is a bold step by the HEC and shows it is very much in touch with the changing demands of a highly-skilled labour market.” The move is likely to increase the value of the qualification.

abdussamad | 12 years ago | Reply LOL ICAP keeps reducing exemptions for ACCA members while HEC keeps increasing the equivalency. Why can't these two organisations come to a common agreement as to the value of an ACCA qualification? Even by HEC's own standards this is contradictory. That is because HEC considers ICAP CA to be equivalent to M.COM too but ICAP only considers ACCA to be equal to 5-7 of its 14 papers and 0 credit towards 3.5 year articleship.
