Family Court Judge Masod Akhter Kiyani on Saturday reserved judgement on two applications filed by a man claiming to be actor Meera’s husband. He will announce his decision on April 26.
Meera had filed a suit for jactitation of marriage asking the court to stop Atiqur Rehman from claiming to be her husband.
She said he was trying to gain cheap publicity through the claim and trying to defame her.
She said that pictures and a marriage certificate produced by Rehman were fakes.
In response, Rehman filed two applications, one seeking a test to determine whether Meera was a virgin and the second to determine who owned the house she was living in. Rehman claimed the house belonged to him.
However, Rehman and his lawyer have not been appearing before the court to argue the applications, despite several summons.

All this drama seems to be staged to gain cheap publicity and remain in the news.
People are dying of hunger and do ot have means to cover their basic needs.
Ironically, those who should do something to improve the lives of people of Pakistan, feel that all is OK. Their official residences and places of work are fully airconditioned with no load shedding. Their lunches and dinners are all provided by the tax payers money. They have non-stop supply of mineral water. How would they know the plight of common man.
DOes it matter if Meera is virgin or not?
I am sure our courts have more important thousands of cases to deal with, and honourable Chief Justice is well aware of the plight of people.

Meera issue apart, a viginity test doesn’t stand to scientific scrutiny. The only yes/no decesion switch available for a virginity test is the status of the hymen. And a hymen can be possibly ruptured due to a multitude of non-sexual reasons even in childhood.
That a court even entertains such a proposal will prove that the legal system belongs to stone age (no offence to the stone age societies).Recommend

This application for virginity test is what we call a part of frivolous litigation. I am sure the Hon’b court will be of the same view about it and as according to my legal knowledge is concerned the court will not allow this application to conduct virginity test as this does not prove any thing regarding the claim of alleged husband and even if its unopposed by meera’s lawyer, court will surely dismiss it. The sending of notices to opponent to appear in this application is just an unavoidable standard procedure.Recommend
