Privilege motion against finance minister

PML-Q, PML-N move motion against finance minister for his statement that the parliament is key hurdle in reforms

Members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) on Monday moved a privilege motion against Finance Minister Abdul Hafiz Sheikh for his statement that the parliament is the key hurdle in the way of tax reforms.


The finance minister issued the statement on Monday in Washington, where he is currently engaged with officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to release a fresh tranche of loan.

“We as parliamentarians feel that our collective privilege has been breached by the finance minister’s statement that parliament is the obstacle in taxation,” said that the members in their motion.
