Conference: Contouring challenges in research

Speakers at the first International Conference on “Promotion of Social Science Research in Pakistani Universities: Prospects and Challenges” emphasised the need for social scientist to play their role in building communities.

The conference was organized by the Committee for Development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Pakistan (CDSSH) here at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) secretariat on Monday.


University of Gujrat’s Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin said that the objective of the conference is to develop and promote an interdisciplinary approach to study the Pakistani society. The study will help forge a common research agenda to meet the contemporary social, economic, political, cultural and environmental challenges faced by the society. HEC Chairperson Dr Javed Laghari Laghari said that every possible effort is being made to enhance social science research in Pakistani universities.
