Drone strikes giving rise to extremism: CM Punjab

Published: April 13, 2011

LHC says courts cannot interfere in policy matters of the government.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday called drone attacks a grave crime which he believes are being carried out with the help of the government.

The chief minister, addressing the media after a prize distribution ceremony at a technical school in the rangers’ headquarters in Lahore, urged the public to unite against the drone attacks.

He blamed the aggressive drone campaign of increasing extremism rather than reducing it.

Commenting on dyke breaches during last year’s floods, he said the judicial inquiry was completed adding that the report will soon be handed to the Cant committee and appropriate measures will be taken.

Well, Mr Sharif is quite right in his observations about Americans stopping the drone strikes, killing innocent jihadis but follow his example to give big donations to them(JUD) to persue their noble mission. Recommend

    In the first instance,
political leadership and aftermath military leadership
    protested on it,
    but as have seen today,
    drone attacks has exceeded limits,
they have no original scope, targeting everywhere everyone,
it mean they have deliberately ignored all the protests registered by
    high up,high profiles,
including the crucial majority of people of Pakistan.Recommend

    @Meekal Ahmed:
Dead right! Drone is rather effect than cause. While the Military has to take the lion’s share of blame besides the economic factor you have mentioned, Shabaz and his brother (ex-Amir-ul-Momeen) are playing ducks and drakes with the Talibans. Recommend

For a start, Pakistan should stop accepting American aid.Recommend

“What a pile of crap. The Generals run Pakistans security policy, and he is blaming the government for drone attacks?”

Right, and wasn’t it Zardari on wikileaks telling the US to continue with the strikes and that his party would make a fuss in parliament to placate public opinion and leave it at that?

Whether the generals run Pakistan’s security policy or not, it has been clearly established that the politicians of the PPP are completely in favor of the drone strikes and are willing to lie to the Pakistani public about it.Recommend
