LHC adjourns Malik's presidential pardon hearing

Express May 20, 2010

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing on a petition challenging the presidential pardon granted to Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday.

The deputy attorney general was asked to submit Malik's pardon notification.

The presidential pardon was challenged in the Lahore High Court on Wednesday. Barrister Farooq Hassan filed a petition in the Lahore High Court in this regard.

The petitioner asserted that by granting pardon to the interior minister, the president misused the right given to him under Article 45.

He argued that the president can not use this right till the Supreme Court gives its verdict regarding the case.

The hearing will resume on May 27.
