LAHORE: A man was killed on Sunday allegedly by his two sons in Shadbagh on Sunday.

ASI Liaqat of the Shadbagh police station said that Malik Muhammad Sarwar, 55, a resident of Bhagatpura, had thrown his sons, Shehzad and Shehbaz, out of his house following a dispute four years ago. Liaqat said that Sarwar had also prohibited his wife from meeting her sons, who started living separately.

A few days ago, police said, Sarwar had an argument with his wife, who wanted to attend Shehzad’s wedding. He said Sarwar threatened to divorce her if she attended the wedding. This did not stop her.

When she returned from the wedding, Sarwar refused to let her in and she started living with her brother.

Malik Muhammad Aslam, brother of the deceased, told The Express Tribune that Shehzad and Shehbaz had killed their father on account of his decision to disinherit her. He said their mother had provoked them.

He said a few days ago she had told him Sarwar would be killed if he did not welcome her back. “If she had not gone to the wedding, he would still be alive,” he said.  He said he had advised her not to interfere in the ‘father-sons’ dispute.

The widow was not available for her comments.

Police have arrested Shehzad and Shehbaz.
