KARACHI:

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah of the Sindh High Court has completed the investigative report about the acquittal of the chief of the Khanani and Kalia company and its directors and bank officers in the alleged money laundering case and it has been dispatched to the Supreme Court.

The investigation comes after Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief Wasim Ahmed had said that FIA had submitted enough evidence against the currency trading company but its directors, Hanif Kalia, Javed Khanani, Munaf Kalia and Atif Polani used their resources and managed to get acquitted.

Responding to Ahmad’s comments, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had directed the Sindh High Court to investigate the acquittal and send the report to him in a week.

Justice Shah called Ahmed to the court to present his stance on Friday. Justice Sajjad compiled and dispatched his report to the Supreme Court.

The FIA chief refused to disclose the contents of his statement to the judge.
