Haroon 'disappointed' as brother Amir Khan gives wedding reception a miss

Says he will 'get over it'

Haroon Khan -- the younger brother of British-Pakistani boxing sensation Amir Khan -- has voiced his "bitter disappointment"over the latter giving his wedding festivities a miss.

"He didn't even send a message of congratulations," a crestfallen Haroon told Daily Mail. He went on to speak about how the ongoing feud between his family and sister-in-law Faryal Makhdoom had left everyone disturbed.

"We, the family and friends, are all quite shocked and saddened by whatever Faryal has been saying. But we tried to forget about the negatives over the wedding weekend and just enjoyed ourselves," he said. She is a one-off and lives by her own set of rules," Haroon said.

As Haroon reminisced about Saturday's celebrations, he said the family had forgiven his "big bro" for failing to make it to the reception. "It's a pity Amir couldn't be there and didn't even congratulate me. I'm bitterly disappointed but I'll get over it. We've always got along really well and of course, you want your brother at your wedding," he said.

"But I'm not going to give him a hard time. Family stuff has been tough and he's busy training in America. Amir knows I've got his back and I'll always be looking out for him. He's blood; we both have responsibility towards each other,"Haroon added.

Haroon also revealed that Amir shares a very close relationship with their parents but declined to comment on his controversial sister-in-law. "We've met her many times but I don't really want to talk about her," he said.

The 25-year-old is now gearing up for a comeback, two years after a stubborn left shoulder injury put him out of the ring. "I hope this year will be good. I'm back in the gym, ready for a round in March or April in the flyweight category. I want to get my career back on track. If Amir can be world champion, so can I," he said.
