Cash snatched: Robbers loot medical store, injure owner, staff

The armed men beat them with pistol and rifle butts, inflicting minor injuries

HARIPUR: Robbers have deprived the owner of a medical store and his employee of cash and valuables worth thousands, police and complainant said on Wednesday.

City police quoted Muhammad Asif, the owner of Usman Medical Store in Masjid Market, T&T Colony, as saying that he was busy in closing the store on Tuesday night, when at around 9:45 pm, four masked men entered his shop armed with pistols and an AK-47 and held him, his employee Sajjad, and the area watchman at gunpoint.

The robbers were speaking in a local dialect and were able to make off with Rs63,000 and two mobile phones and fled using a motorbike parked outside the shop.

The owners said that when they tried to put up resistance, the armed men beat them with pistol and rifle butts, inflicting minor injuries.
