CJ constitutes full bench for 18th amendment

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry constituted a full bench to hear petitions against the 18th amendment.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry constituted a full bench to hear petitions against the 18th amendment on Thursday.

The hearing will take place on May 24. About 10 petitions were filed against the 18th amendment.

The petitions were filed by Ijazul Haq, Supreme Court Bar Association, Rawalpindi District Bar Association, Advocate Nadeem Ahmad and several other people who challenged different clauses of the amendment.

Article 175 of the 18th amendment which deals with the appointment of judges was also challenged by some of the petitioners.

    I am hoping for a verdict against 18th amendment which will prove last nail in the coffin of the present Judiciary & a Dejavu (Nov 03,2007) may be witnessed.Recommend
