ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabad police have registered a criminal case against a schoolteacher and a peon for allegedly raping a schoolgirl at an educational institute in a remote Galiyat village, police said on Thursday.

One of the accused has been arrested, while the hunt is on for the second suspect, police said. B* told Doonga Gali police that she studied in the seventh grade at Government Middle School Tupla in Nowshehra. A few days ago, after school let out for the day, her Islamiyat teacher, H*, allegedly called her into an empty classroom to show her a notebook.

When she went into the classroom, Hashim, together with peon T*, locked the door of the room from the inside and allegedly gang raped her.

She added that they kept her in the room till the evening and only let her go after getting her to promise not to tell anyone about the incident. They allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she told her parents what had happened.

When she reached home, her parents noticed that she was disheveld and forced her to disclose what had happened. Once they found out, they approached some notables of the area. Those people, however, suggested that the family avoid involving the police.

However, when the student’s condition deteriorated, her father informed the police.

Doonga Gali police said that after medical tests proved the assault, a rape and illegal confinement case was registered against the accused under sections 376 and 342 of the PPC. Police subsequently arrested H* from Taxila, while they are still searching for T*.
