KARACHI: The Sindh law secretary was directed on Thursday by a division bench of the Sindh High Court to ensure that the bill making amendments to the rules of the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) be tabled in the Sindh Assembly during its current session.

The bench, comprising the Chief Justice, also ordered the secretary to file a compliance report within four weeks. The changes also concern a special court to deal with building control code violations.

The bench heard KBCA law officer who filed an application seeking orders by the SHC chief justice. Previously, the Sindh government represented by former Sindh advocate-general opposed the KBCA plea on grounds that it would become another tool for corruption.

Sindh Additional Advocate-General Sarwar Khan said that the government has drafted an amendment. Once passed into law, special courts would be established.
