ISLAMABAD: Given the fast-paced evolution of the world today, education does not end after acquiring a degree, instead it is a lifelong affair of exploring new horizons and broadening of the vision.

This was stated by State Minister for Education Balighur Rehman at the 12th convocation of the Capital University of Science and Technology.

The ceremony, which was held at Jinnah Convention  Centre, saw over 700 students graduate from different programmes including BBA, MBA, BS, MS and PhD in the fields of management sciences, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, engineering management, computer science and bioinformatics.

Rehman said that education was akin to marching on a never-ending journey towards new frontiers of knowledge.

Nuclear physicist Dr Samar Mubarakmand said education plays a vital role in economic development of the country. It helps raise productivity and efficiency of individuals and thus produces skilled manpower which is capable of leading the economy on to a path of sustainable economic development.

Later, Rehman conferred the degrees. At least 50 medals were handed out to top performing students including 19 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze medals. Twenty PhD graduates received their doctorates too.

The ‘Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal’ was awarded to BBA student Arooj Khalid Butt for being the best graduate of the convocation.
