LAHORE: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has once again castigated the federal government, especially Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, on its failure to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism

On Sunday, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman said the 17-point counter-terrorism strategy lost its effectiveness owing to the poor performance of the federal interior minister.

Bilawal flays PML-N’s ‘failed’ National Action Plan

Addressing a workers convention at Bilawal House, Lahore to mark the party’s 49th Foundation Day celebrations, the PPP leader said NAP had become ‘N-League (PML-N) Action Plan’ that had failed badly in protecting the life and property of citizens.

Bilawal, wearing a navy-blue suit and Sindhi Ajrak on his shoulder and a Sindhi cap, asked his party workers, mostly from Sindh province, if they felt any change in Sindh and the party after he assumed party’s reins. He said he would bring change in Pakistan as he had done within the party.

He reiterated if the government did not accept his demands of democratic accountability by December 27, the slogan of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ would be heard across Pakistan. He added if his party workers supported him he would become the next prime minister of Pakistan after winning 2018 general elections.

Bilawal strongly criticised Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif by reciting an alternate version of poet Habib Jalib’s poem “Zulmat Ko Zia”. “I apologise for plagiarising poetic works, but I want to recite a few verses for rulers and media, especially for a biased news outlet,” he pointed out.

He also shouted slogans against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as well as Chaudhry Nisar.

Famous Sindhi folk tunes kept echoing in Bilawal House the whole day. Bilawal, along with his sisters Bakhtawar and Aseefa, enjoyed performances of Sindhi singers and artists. Scores of senior leaders and a large number of party workers were present in the celebrations that coincided with the Sindhi
Cultural Day.

The stage and decor on Sindh Workers Convention Day was specially done with patterns and colours inspired from traditional Sindhi Ajrak. Party leaders distributed Ajraks and Sindhi caps among workers to mark the culture day.
