KARACHI: We need to work on Karachi development plan, said Mayor Wasim Akhtar while talking to the media outside Sindh Assembly on Friday. He requested the chief minister to reconsider the government’s decision and empower the local bodies. “The CM is an educated person and I hope he will resolve this issue,” he said, adding that Karachi has turned into a garbage dump and local bodies’ elected representatives are powerless. “I am thankful to Bilawal Bhutto for raising voice against my arrest,” he said. Earlier, the mayor held a meeting with Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and former CM Qaim Ali Shah. The elected representatives of both the parties were also present on the occasion. The speaker presented a shield to the elected mayor.
