In a startling claim, a woman from Manhattan has said she found a dead rat sewn inside a dress she bought from a Zara clothing store in Greenwich, Connecticut.

According to court documents, Cailey Fiesel bought a Zara dress in July but when she finally wore it at work a few weeks later, she could smell a strange odor and feel a strange bulge as she ran her fingers across the helm of the dress.

Fiesel is now seeking compensation from Zara USA, claiming she suffered from "significant personal injuries and emotional distress." She also stated that she has developed rash that was later identified as a rodent-borne disease.

"Zara USA is aware of the allegation and we are investigating the matter further," the company stated in response. "The brand has stringent quality controls and health and safety standards worldwide that are followed and met in manufacturing, including stitching and pressing. We are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements."
