Young drivers

Letter October 28, 2016
To ensure minimal deaths caused by reckless driving, strict traffic rules should be implemented

KARACHI: Every nation faces different issues which need to be looked at and steps need to be carried out to resolve those problems. In the same way, one of the problems that Pakistan is facing is reckless driving.

The young generation of our country is not bothered about people’s lives and takes the matter very faintly, due to which they trouble others. Their reckless behaviours include overtaking another car in an unsafe manner, breaking traffic signals abruptly, and racing on a busy street trying to dodge vehicles. Additionally, ‘one-wheeling’ or ‘wheelies’ have become a popular pastime for young boys, which sometimes results in horrendous injuries and death.

To ensure minimal deaths caused by reckless driving, strict traffic rules should be implemented. Moreover, cameras should be installed at highways and particularly, at accident-prone areas. If rules are not being followed by an individual, strict action should be taken against him or her.
