Taliban release video of killing of Col Imam

The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Saturday released a video allegedly showing the killing of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officer Colonel Imam.

Sultan Amir Tarar, better known as Col Imam, was reportedly killed last month by the Taliban.

The video footage released today shows Colonel Imam on the ground with three Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members, including the group’s chief Hakimullah Mehsud, standing behind him.

Earlier, TTP spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan was quoted as saying that a video showing Col Imam would be released later in the day.

“The video will show Taliban fighters firing at Colonel Imam... Colonel Imam is no more in this world,” Ahsan said.

A little-known militant faction called the Asian Tigers in North Waziristan had earlier claimed they had killed the former ISI official but conflicting reports this week said that he may still be alive and in captivity.

The abductors had reportedly demanded Rs50 million and the release of some jailed militants for Colonel Imam’s freedom.

Col Imam was widely respected by the Afghan Taliban for his role in the Afghan Jihad against Soviet forces during the 1979-89 war.

He described himself as the “teacher” of Afghan Taliban chief Mullah Omar in several interviews.

He also served as Pakistan’s consul general in the western Afghan city of Herat after the installation of a Taliban government in Kabul.

Now coming over to objectives of American Compaign is Afghanistan? was it to topple the Taliban Regime and leave the country? Was it to stay here permanently and maintaing its army for 10 - 12 years through an unsecured access via Pakistan? Was it to have a presence in region to contain China , if so then why USA wants to withdraw? Was it to destabilize Pakistan? Was it to control Pak Nuclear Weapons? If we could understand this, Game of Rise and Fall of Taliban, Musharraf take over before on set of USA operations, drone attacks as a need of Pakistan, Raymond Davis and allies activities in Pakistan and his links with TTP. Abondoning the post and liquadating border security by American before Pak Army resume op in South Waziristan Agency to allow miscreants to flee.

If you were son of a real man..you could have offered a fight to the brave soldier instead of killing him like cowards. Shame on you!

Colonel Imam never denied, because he was credited for something,which he never achieved .When did he get an opportunity to train Mullah Omer,a foot soldier,unknown till November 1994?Omer was in Kandahar,Imam was in Herat.The intelligence agencies did not know even the meanings of the word "Taliban" till December 1994,a month after they had captured Kandahar.Russians left Afghanistan in February 1989,Najib could not be dislodged, till 1992.The infighting continued for the next four years(September 1996).So when and where did this training actually take place?Do you think if he was the Godfather of Taliban and Ustad of Mullah Omer,as he claimed,Hakimullah would killed him?AL Qaeda would have let this happen?Believe me the Journalist's other books are also based on speculations and half truths.The Quetta Shura is also an imaginary term,never used by Taliban themselves.

truth seeker | 13 years ago | Reply aoa, did you notice the head appearing(col Imam's) in the lower part of the screen. The screen is blurred in the lower part. This seems to be a fabricated video.
