KARACHI: Municipal commissioner Badar Jameel has asked the Sindh government to help the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for the payment of dues of their 22,000 pensioners. Pensioners have been deprived of increase in pension and pension contribution for the last three years and these people have been facing acute financial problems, Jameel informed the Sindh finance secretary Hasan Naqvi in a meeting on Tuesday. He also briefed Naqvi on the current financial crisis that KMC is facing and told him that KMC needs support from the Sindh government. According to KMC's press statement, Naqvi has assured Jameel that higher authorities will be approached for a solution of the pension issue. Meanwhile, Jameel has also asked the financial advisor of KMC to improve the pension disbursement to retired employees.
