ISLAMABAD: Students in the capital planted trees as part of the Green Pakistan Programme initiated by the ministry of climate change. “This is the first practical initiative of tree plantation under the Green Pakistan Programme taken by the Ministry of Climate Change with school children. The purpose of the initiative was to prepare young minds to make Pakistan green,” a spokesperson of the ministry said. He said that students showed enthusiasm in the plantation campaign which aims to fulfil the target of planting 100 million trees in the country. This plantation campaign is also a step to prove Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable and green cities, sustainable land management programme to combat desertification, establishment of a centre for climate change and sustainable development and establishment of a transparent forest surveys reporting unit.
