Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been making headlines regarding her racy appearance in the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for quite some time now.

However, Aish has now finally opened up on her bold avatar saying it was the demand of the script and the scenes were shot aesthetically, IB Times reported.

"Today I have worked, I know the overview. It is about how you approach a character and doing that is relevant to times from 20 years ago. It is done in a classy way. It is not frivolous sensuality onscreen."

Did Aishwarya's steamy scenes in ADHM leave Big B upset?

Speaking to Filmfare, the diva revealed that she was comfortable playing the role.

“Karan would’ve liked a lot more intimacy. But I’ve not gone beyond in terms of my comfort space.”

The actor also delved into details about her character Saba which she plays in the film. “It’s the Saba-Ayan dynamics. She’s a progressive lady, impactful enough to become his voice for the rest of his life, the reason he writes. He sings her poetry, he finds expression in that. She continues to be part of his life forever. There’s a continuum even in the separation.”

"You’ll come away seeing only ‘wow chemistry’ or you’ll come away seeing the depth," she added.

Aish further said she's glad the film is raising questions. "I’ve no insecurities doing a film where I age, where visually I look nothing from what you’d expect - considering there’s a constant visual dissection for someone like me! I choose to do the least expected. I’m glad it has turned out being different, in a Karan Johar narrative. The female response has been amazing," she said.

The actor also questioned the link of age with reference to male-female dynamics. “Like a journalist said when age is not discussed in the male dynamic, why is it being discussed so much in the female dynamic?”

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil teaser promises an emotional roller coaster

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles. The film features cameo appearances by Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas, Lisa Haydon and Shah Rukh Khan. It is slated to release on October 28, 2016.
